Barcelona:
America's Michael Phelps followed up his world record with a gold medal performance in the 200-metre butterfly at the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona. Phelps clocked 1 minute, 54.35 seconds, just slightly off his world record-time of 1:53.93 set a day earlier in the semi-finals. The two times are the fastest in history. But Phelps could do nothing but watch as Australia eventually swam to the gold medal in the 4x200 m freestyle, with Ian Thorpe anchoring. This is Thorpedo's third gold at these championships.Topics mentioned in this article
