# Steyn has captured 50 wickets or more in a calendar year three times in Tests - the first two instances being 74 (ave.20.01) in 13 Tests in 2008 and 60 (ave.21.41) in 11 Tests in 2010. Steyn and Makhaya Ntini are the only two South African bowlers to have claimed 50 wickets in a calendar year three times. Shaun Pollock has performed the feat twice and Allan Donald once.
# Steyn (9/147) is the first South African bowler to capture eight wickets or more vs India in a Test match twice at Kingsmead, Durban. He had claimed eight for 110 in the 2010-11 Durban Test.
# Steyn's excellent figures of 9 for 147 are the second best by a South African bowler against India in a Test match at Kingsmead - the best being 9 for 54 by Allan Donald in December 1996.
# Steyn reached his 350 wickets in 69 Tests - the same number of Tests taken by Richard Hadlee. Only Muttiah Muralitharan has taken fewer Tests (66) to reach the milestone than Hadlee and Steyn.
