Amman:
China are through to the AFC Asian Cup finals for a ninth consecutive time after recording a 2-0 victory against Palestine on Wednesday. Mao Jianqing and Sun Xiang scored the goals in Amman for Zhu Guanghu's side. With the match being played on safer territory in Jordan, Palestinian fans seemed outnumbered by 'visiting' Chinese supporters for the Group E qualifier. A drab affair in Amman's King Abdullah International Stadium was punctuated by the two goals, the first of which came in the 27th minute. With Iraq defeating Singapore 4-2 in the other Group E match, a draw against the Palestinians would have been enough to ensure the progress of the 2004 Asian Cup runners-up. But Xiang secured the full three points with a second goal in the 65th minute. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
