Paris:
Argentine Guillermo Coria ended Tim Henman's bid to create history at the French Open, storming into the final after defeating the Briton 3-6 6-4 6-0 7-5. Henman raised hopes of being the first Briton in 40 years to compete for the French Open title in an incredible run up to the semi-finals but was upset by the third seeded Argentine. Henman won the first set 6-3 proving that serve and volley skills do work on clay as well. However Guillermo Coria who has lost just one match on clay for the last one year, wasn't going down that easy, fighting back in the second set. Then the Argentine started an incredible run of nine consecutive games en route to taking the third set 6-0. Coria, who lost in the semi-finals last year, will now face unseeded Gaston Gaudio in the final, who earlier beat another Argentine, David Nalbandian, in straight sets. Guillermo Vilas was the last Argentine to reach the final at Roland Garros, in 1982.(With wire inputs)
