When semifinal matches are played today in the inaugural HSBC Match Play Championship, World number one Annika Sorenstam will not be among the four golfers vying for the title. The Swede, fresh off her disappointing finish in the US Open, was eliminated in a quarterfinal match against Candy Kung of Taiwan. The 23-year-old Taiwanese player seeded eighth in this event, won all three of her LPGA Tour titles in 2003. Wendy Ward, Meena Lee and Marisa Baena were the other quarterfinal winners.
