India's Mohd Asab shot a world record but narrowly missed the bronze medal in the men's double trap event at the ISSF World Cup in Acapulco, Mexico.

The 25-year-old Asab shot a world record score of 136 in the qualification round to move to the semifinal stage for the top six shooters as per the new rules introduced by the ISSF, a media release stated on Thursday.
In the semifinal round Asab shot 25 and tied with two others Daniele Di Spigno (ITA) and Sergio Pinero (DOM) for the shoot-off for the gold medal match between the top two.
Asab lost the shoot-off but qualified for the bronze medal match with the fourth placed semifinalist Ian Rupert (USA). The 19 year old Rupert outdid Asab 25 to 24 hits to claim the bronze.
The gold was won Daniele Di Spigno after the the Italian shooter beat Sergio Pinero of the Dominican Republic 27 to 26 hits, out of 30 targets.
