Indian Cricket Team, Yogeshwar Dutt Salute Soldiers Killed in Uri Attack

Anil Kumble and Virat Kohli led tributes from the Indian cricket team, while wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt also paid his respects for the Indian soldiers martyred in the Uri attack

Anil Kumble, Virat Kohli and Yogeshwar Dutt led tributes for the Indian soldiers martyred in Uri.



Indian cricket team head coach Anil Kumble on Tuesday offered condolences on behalf of the team for Indian soldiers who lost their lives during the Uri attack in Jammu and Kashmir .

A total of 17 Indian soldiers lost their lives when four heavily armed terrorists attacked the base in the morning of September 18, with an 18th soldier succumbing to his injuries a day later.

"Yes, in terms of our support to the people who safeguard all of us, we deeply condole their death. We honout their matryrdom," Kumble told reporters when asked about the terrorist attack.

"It is never easy for the families. As Indian team, we salute the bravehearts. The respect from our side will always be there," he added.

India's Test skipper Virat Kohli also paid tributes to the martyrs on his Twitter account, saying he was filled with emotion on seeing a picture of the carnage in Uri.

Ace wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt also saluted the soldiers who lost their lives, and posted a series of tweets condemning the terrorists responsible for the attack.
