Brendon McCullum scored 281 not out to guide New Zealand to 571/6 at stumps on Day 4 against India in Wellington.
McCullum was subjected to some short stuff early on when he came out to bat at 52/3.
He curbed his natural aggressive play and soon settled in to play a long innings.
He got quite a few blows from the Indian bowlers and was in a lot of discomfort at one point.
McCullum was soon in the zone as he unleashed some powerful shots and sent the ball skimming to the boundary and over.
Brendon McCullum would finish 19 short of a triple hundred. Should he achieve the feat on Day 5, he will be the first Kiwi to socre a triple ton in Tests.
