The Kings XI Punjab opener left the Chennai bowlers short of ideas as he blazed to a century of just 52 balls. "I was not overawed by the reputation of Chennai bowlers. I batted to my strength and 189 was always on my mind." said Valthaty, who played just one one-dayer for Mumbai in 2006.
"Gilchrist opened with me, who made things easy by constantly giving me tips. It was a dream for me to bat with Gilchrist and it is a great opportunity too, but I am taking one step at a time.", he added.
On being asked about his reaction to India's World Cup win, the 27-year old said, "We were dancing and celebrating when India won the World Cup. It was great fun."
Valthaty, who had featured in just 12 Twenty20 matches before with a highest score of 70 prior to Wednesday's match, also expressed his desire to bat with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. "Playing with Sachin is every cricketer's dream. If I get a chance, I will have to pinch myself to believe that I am not dreaming."
