Chennai: Former IPL chief Lalit Modi was less than impressed by the opening ceremony that kicked off IPL 4, the first season sans Modi.
Modi was missing from the glitzy opening gala. His tweets however made up for the absence. Modi tweeted, "Sad to see the way the opening ceremony was conducted. Well I am sure the Games will be better. So let's hope they will overcome the start."
Modi was on the web within minutes of the ceremony and wished all the teams luck and said he hoped fans would continue to enjoy the format, now in its fourth edition. "Great to see the IPL season 4 has finally begun. Good luck to all the teams. I am sure fans globally would be glued to their fav teams," said his tweet.
Modi was also thankful to people who had messaged him expressing support. "Thank you for your messages. The show must go on," he said on the social networking fans although he did mention that 'the event itself was created for fans after all.'
Ironically for some though, Modi also decided to urge fans to support the anti-corruption movement of Anna Hazare. This despite the fact that Modi himself was removed from his post on charges of misappropriation of funds, among other reasons.
