We are almost at the half way stage in the IPL. So here's a list of the Top 5 Batsmen so far, and this list is not based on the number of runs but number of match winning performances in the IPL so far.
Ajinkya Rahane: Rajasthan Royals opener Ajinkya Rahane has played both ODIs and T20s for India and he's someone the selectors will be watching very closely for a possible recall. The 23-year-old batsman smashed the maiden century of IPL 5 and has hit the maximum number of 4s so far in the tournament.
AB de Villiers: The gold medalist on our list though is a man who plays the guitar and the drums, wicket-keeps and happily gives his Man of the Match award to others. With three fifties under his belt and a mind-boggling strike rate of 164, de Villiers has helped Bangalore snatch victory from the jaws of defeat in as many as three matches so far. He undoubtedly is the player with the maximum impact.
Kevin Pietersen: He is known for his switch-hits and Kevin PIetersen's switch from Deccan to Delhi is something the Daredevils fans are loving. KP has already notched-up a century in IPL 5 and has a strike rate of over 150. Pietersen though will be leaving on the 2nd of May since he's required for National duty.
Chris Gayle: Think Chris Gayle and you think of gigantic sixes. And the Caribbean giant hasn't disappointed the fans so far. Just ask Pune spinner Rahul Sharma who was butchered for five sixes in one over. Gayle has three fifties so far and has hit the maximum sixes in IPL 5. His two 80-plus scores have helped Bangalore pull-off big wins against Punjab and Pune.
Faf du Plessis: He went to school with AB de Villiers and is almost as destructive a player as AB. 27-year old Faf du Plessis has been the perfect replacement for Michael Hussey for the Super Kings. He already has three fifties, including a 46-ball 71 that helped Chennai chase a mammoth 206 against Bangalore.
