Kings XI, who gathered momentum as the tournament progressed, had 16 points going into their final league game. A win would have seen them through but Delhi Daredevils, the most consistent team of the season beat them by 6 wickets. This boosted Chennai's chance to qualify.
Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Deccan Chargers: Chargers won by 9 runs
It looked end of road for the Super Kings when Royal Challengers Bangalore, who boast of the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, were asked to chase a target of 133. But thanks to Deccan pacer Dale Steyn, Bangalore were managed to score 123 for the loss of nine wickets. With this RCB cleared the way for CSK.
