According to Italian newspaper, 'Gazzetta dello Sport' the Romanian striker got into a heated argument with Indian embassy officials, who asked him to come back sober. However, the footballer denied the incident and tweeted a picture of his passport with the Indian visa stamp.
non capisco !! un giornale come gazzetta dello sport po scrivere una bugia del genere senza verificare l'informazione pic.twitter.com/GqE7pqkZ0E— Adrian Mutu (@adrianmutu) October 14, 2014
Mutu has had a controversial past, thanks to drugs and alcohol. The 35-year-old was banned from the national team after he was seen drinking in a bar with Romanian teammate Gabriel Tamas, even as the rest of the team played a match against San Marino.
Mutu has also served two doping bans. Back in 2004, Chelsea had banned him for seven months and fined him 20,000 Pounds after he had failed to clear a cocaine test. Six years later, he served a nine month ban after failing a doping test with Fiorentina.
