There is good news for Kings XI Punjab. The Indian Premier League team that is currently placed fifth in the nine team championship, will get a batting boost this weekend with the arrival of Australian T20 specialist Shaun Marsh.

Marsh had been recovering from a ruptured hamstring tendon behind his right knee, an injury he picked while playing for Australia A in February.

"I'm feeling fit and healthy so I can't wait to get back to playing cricket again and am really excited about the next five weeks in the IPL," Marsh said in a media release issued by Perth Scorchers, his team in the Big Bash.

With 1603 runs, Marsh is Kings XI's top batsman. The winner of the Orange Cap in the inaugural edition of the IPL, Marsh has a century and the most number of fifties (13).

A batsman with a breezy strike rate and a healthy average of 45.80, Marsh is expected to add muscle to the Punjab top order that has lacked consistency. Coach Darren Lehmann will be excited with skipper Adam Gilchrist in poor form.

If all goes as per plans, Marsh may make a return against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on April 22 (Monday). The bounce and pace of the Wankhede wicket should help Marsh play his natural attacking game.

Marsh has been thankful to the Kings XI management for keeping faith in him despite the long lay-off.

"I love coming here and playing for Kings XI. I am lucky the team has shown faith in me. I'll like to score as many runs as possible and repay them," he said.

Marsh and Gilchrist were involved in a 200-run stand last season at Dharamshala. Kings XI will look forward to such partnerships once again in a bid to finish among the top four teams this season.
