New Delhi: Former cricketer Imran Khan on Sunday said that MS Dhoni's unbeaten 113 against Pakistan in the opening ODI on Sunday was one of the best under pressure innings he had seen.
Speaking to NDTV after India had lost the match by 6 wickets, Imran Khan even chose to call it exceptional. "I think he played really well and in fact it was an exceptional innings under pressure. But for his knock, this match would have been over in two-three hours," he said. "Under the circumstances, this was one of the best innings."
Dhoni came in to bat with his team tottering at 29/5. Junaid Khan was steaming in and the ball was seaming as well. The Indian skipper though anchored himself in to first repair and then recover the innings. He was adjudged man of the match for his efforts though Pakistan reached the target of 228 with 11 deliveries remaining.
India also managed to get a good start to their defense when Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed two early wickets. Imran Khan praised his ability to swing the ball. "I think he has the ability to swing the ball and he has done well. For a fast bowler to do well, you need to have speed in the air and ability to move the ball. Or you have to swing the ball and be able to extract extra bounce."
