New Zealand scored 328/6 in a rain-curtailed day at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Zaheer Khan struck in his first over for India but the visitors came back into the match riding on gutsy batting by Martin Guptill and skipper Ross Taylor. (All AFP Photos)
Opener Martin Guptill played the anchor's role with his 53 after losing his partner Brendon McCullum early in the innings.
Skipper Ross Taylor decided to launch a counter attack against India's spin attack. He hit 16 fours and two massive sixes.
Ross Taylor's century came off just 99 balls. It also helped New Zealand come back into the match after wickets fell early in the day.
Pragyan Ojha was the wrecker-in-chief for India as he picked up four wickets, including that of centurion Ross Taylor.
Kruger van Wyk continued the assault on Indian bowling dispatching nine hits to the fence. He remained unbeaten on 63 at the end of the day.
