New Delhi: It was supposed to be the return of the Singhs to the national side but rain in Vizag played spoilsport. Yuvraj Singh though seems to be in no mood to let New Zealand off the hook before the start of the ICC World T20 tournament.
After battling cancer and returning to India's national T20 squad, Yuvraj was expected to don the blue jersey against the Kiwis for the opening T20 on Saturday. Wet conditions however forced the match to be called off. "sory to the fans nd spectators who wer inside and watchin on tv gues have to wait 3 mor days electrfyin atmsphere and thnk u for so mch lov," he wrote on his Twitter page late on Saturday night.
While the second T20 is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, fans were eagerly waiting for their hero to take to the field in Vizag itself. And while eyes were on Yuvraj, there was the second Singh in Harbhajan who was also expected to spin up some magic as well, after his county stint with Essex.
Harbhajan Singh, out of the Indian national team for close to a year, had been playing county cricket and had a reasonable performance which was good enough for him to earn a recall. The 32-year-old has termed the short-series against New Zealand as a new chapter in his life.
The duo from Punjab have a match against Ross Taylor's side before leaving for Sri Lanka. The practice match before the World T20 is against Pakistan which will be also be the only warm-up match to be broadcasted live. Therefore, the focus on the two players is unlikely to subside although Yuvraj has said he is used to pressure and will be at ease in performing to his best.
