A fight in vain and a collapse from India against a fierce England side was what summed up the final day of the final Test at The Oval. A look (AP and AFP images)
Sachin Tendulkar and Amit Mishra began the day for the visitors. With a mammoth target ahead of them, England looked to finish the formalities, early.
The batsmen however had no intention of giving up early. Sachin was the first to fightback and he brought up his fifty.
Amit Mishra was the more aggressive of the two as he too slammed a fifty and hit confident shots to the fence.
The two stitched together a vital partnership of 144 runs and looked to enforce a draw although a lot of cricket remained.
Sachin fell on 91, nine short of what would have been another milestone but it was left for another tournament, the ODI series coming up, perhaps.
England hunt in packs and Stuart Broad proved it again. Once Sachin left, Broad came in and got rid of MS Dhoni and RP Singh.
Swann finished what little remained of India as England restricted India to 283 runs, 8 short of the 1st innings target.
