The Delhi batsman was named in the Indian Test squad for the tour of England, when the team was announced on July 2, even though he was yet to recover completely from a shoulder surgery. He was scheduled to join the team a fortnight late.
Sehwag also missed the entire West Indies tour due to the shoulder injury. Abhinav Mukund, who had substituted for Sehwag in the Windies, is also a part of the England tour and is likely to open the innings with Gautam Gambhir for India.
