Colombo: The long and short of India's match against South Africa, as things stand is that MS Dhoni needs his bowlers to restrict the Proteas to 121 or less. This after scoring 152/6 with the bat.
While Pakistan had earlier beaten Australia to collect full points and finish their Super 8s on 4 points, Suresh Raina led India's innings with the bat. He scored 45.
South Africa asked India to bat at the toss. With a win and a loss in the Super 8s, India have two points and a win against the Proteas will bring them at par with Australia and Pakistan in terms of points but will then need the net run-rate to decide the final outcome.
South Africa were ousted as even a win against India will give them just 2 points, allowing Australia and Pakistan to move ahead. This however will surely ensure India's ouster.
