Turning out in large numbers for India's matches in Champions Trophy, including the warm-ups, it is quite clear that the cricketers continue to be their heroes, still. (AFP and AP images)
Cardiff, where the opening two warm-up matches were played by India, has a large community of Indians, especially students enrolled in the University here.
They were in the Swalec Stadium with their tri-colours to cheer for their players.
This is an image of fans cheering India during the successful warm-up match against Sri Lanka where Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik played superb knocks.
Kohli is seen here obliging fans. The maverick batsman may have had certain incidents with fans which he would want to forget (remember series in Australia?).
He however lets his bat do the talking and it further strengthens the bond which he shares with his fans.
Skipper MS Dhoni and his side may or may not reach the pinnacle in this tournament. They however are extremely fortunate to have loyal fans who continue to follow them despite all the controversies.
After all, fans make players into superstars!
