Germany came down from a 2-1 deficit to beat France 5-2 and lift their sixth Junior World Cup hockey title. In the third place playoff, Netherlands defeated Malaysia 7-2 to win the bronze.
France were the unfancied team but that did not mean they would be mere pushovers.
Germany felt the pressure very much from the start as France came hard at time.
Gaspard Baumgarten scored in the 16th minute to level France with Germany.
Baumgarten would score again to give France the lead a second time in the 40th minute.
Germany struck back to overturn the deficit and ultimately win the game.
Niklas Wellen scored a hat-trick. His goal in the 2nd, 44th and 46th minute shut France out of the match.
Germany were no match for France in the second half as they scored four goals to France's one.
The first half was evenly contested but France had no way to counter Germany's counterattack.
After the final whistle, the German players broke into a a frenzy as the elation was clear on their faces.
The joy was visible on their faces as they posed with the trophy.
The team celebrated on the field but there is no doubt that they would party all night.
The victory gave them a sixth world title and Germany also successfully defended their the trophy.
