Ice hockey is one of the favourite sports played in Canada. On a trip to country, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton found out exactly why as they too could not resist trying their luck in the sport. (All images courtesy AFP)
Prince William and Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, arrived at the Somba K'e Civic Plaza in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories on Tueday.
The mood though, reportedly, could not be kept away from sports for too long as they greet young hockey players in this photograph.
They were even presented with hockey jerseys during the street hockey event before the two spectators decided to join the game itself.
Prince William decided to take three shots at the goal with no players and just a goal-keeper to stop his heaves.
He had the entire crowd cheering for him as his wife watched on from behind. Kate had earlier dropped the puck to begin the actual match.
The Prince may have water-landed a chopper on a lake but he was unsuccessful in all of his attempts on goal. The fans though grew in hoards.
The send-off eventually was as cheerful as the welcome was jubilant as British royalty got a first-hand taste of the sport that drives Canadians.
