Junior Asia Cup hockey in Hyderabad

The sixth men's Asian Junior Hockey Cup will be held at the Gachibowli hockey stadium here
between July 11 to 18.

"The participating nations are divided into two groups. India, Japan, Malaysia and Singapore are in Pool A, while Bangladesh, Korea, Pakistan and Oman are in Pool B," chairman of the ad-hoc selection committee Aslam Sher Khan said here on Tuesday.

The tournament will be held on league-cum-knock out basis and the winner of the event would automatically qualify for the 2009 World Cup to be played in Malaysia, Khan said.

Suresh Kalmadi, Chairman of the ad-hoc committee appointed to oversee hockey's administration, said India will be hosting both the World Cup as well as the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and the committee is determined to bring the game back to top by that time.

International Hockey Federation President Els Van Breda Vriesman and other top officials of world body would be present during the Junior Asia Cup, he said.
