Ever since that morning when the entire nation got the shocking news of India's defeat in the Olympic qualifiers - the greatest hockey debacle in the last 80 years - people have been coming up with various arguments to express their dismay.

Some have said it's the lack of encouragement and facilities for the game, others have blamed the administrators of the sport in our country, so on and so forth..., but the weirdest of all such remarks are the ones that drag cricket into the dock.

Why blame cricket? Everytime India fail to do well in any other sport, anybody who doesn't like cricket points an accusing finger at it. Do you think cricket is any way responsible for hockey's downfall?

Which of the following do you think makes cricket the most popular game in India?

a) Stellar performance of cricketers

b) Cricket is more interesting than any other sport

c) India's poor performance in other sports

d) Government's apathy towards other sports

e) BCCI's ability to market cricket

f) Messy administration of other sports bodies

g) Indian climatic conditions and food habits are not conducive to producing good sportsmen

h) Lack of preparation and killer instinct on part of our sportspersons

j) Media highlights cricket more than any other sport
