New Delhi:
Continuing with their preparations for next month's Athens Olympics, the Indian hockey team will be playing a Test series against Ireland in Germany from July 31 to August 3. The Ireland team will travel to Germany for the series following an invitation from India, who are currently playing a four-nation tournament in Dusseldorf, according to Irish team manager Steven Hiles. "This was a last minute invite from India and not part of our original international programme, but when we investigated the feasibility in terms of logistics and finance, it was simply too good an opportunity to turn down," Hiles was quoted as saying on the FIH website. "The chance to play against one of the top sides in the world with a very different Asian playing style will be a great experience for the current Irish players,aÂÂ he added. In the final stage of their preparations for the Athens Olympics, the Indians are currently engaged in the four-nation tournament which also features hosts Germany, Britain and France.
