IHF declares team for Australia tourneys

The Indian Hockey Federation has announced an 18-member squad for the two four-nation tournaments in Australia beginning from April 14. The team, to be captained by veteran defender Dilip Tirkey, has four new faces - full back Jaitnder Pal Singh and forwards Ajit Pal Singh, Sunil Yadav and Raju. But mercurial forward Dhanraj Pillay, who is still being apparently rested since he was left out from the team for the Olympic Qualifiers in Madrid, finds no place in the team. Biggies missing Some of the other big names missing are former Captain Baljit Singh Dhillion, Baljit Singh Saini and Sandeep Michael. Besides India and hosts Australia, the other two teams in the tournament are South Africa and Malaysia The Indians will be going to Australia with a new assistant coach, N S Sodhi, who replaced Baldev Singh after the team's return from Madrid.
