Kuala Lumpur:
Pakistan have beaten India 3-2 in the Azlan Shah hockey tournament in Kuala Lumpur today. Though India have had a fairly dismal outing so far, they did produce some magic against their arch-rivals. Early lead Pakistan got the early lead in the 8th minute off a penalty corner and barely a minute later, it was 2-0 to the Pakistanis. India held out for another 20 minutes, but then once again the defence was left to answer a few questions. Pakistan went up 3-0 inside half an hour, the ball going in off captain Dilip Tirkey. After the half-time break, India earned a penalty stroke, but Arjun Halappa's effort went wide. Missed chances That missed penalty was a wake-up call for India. Len Aiyappa's effort was well-blocked by the Pakistani keeper, though Deepak Thakur pulled one back. Three minutes later, India made it 3-2. India had one last chance to level the tie, but the Pakistani keeper did well to save the penalty corner. But in the end it didn't turn out to be enough. Pakistan's 3-2 win means they stay unbeaten. India's last game is on Friday against Olympic Champions Australia.Topics mentioned in this article
