Belgium held India to a 1-1 draw in a Pool B match of the Olympic hockey qualifying tournament here today. The Indians, still trying to acclimatise to the sub zero conditions, got off to a slow start. India took the lead in the 28th minute of the second half with a penalty corner conversion by Len Ayappa. However, that lead lasted just three 3 minutes before Belgium scored past 10-man India to make it 1-1. Baljeet Singh Dhillon had been sent off for a foul. However, the result would be a wake up call for the Indians who will play their next game against Malaysia on Thursday. India need to finish in the top seven if they are to qualify for Athens.Topics mentioned in this article
