New Delhi:

The Indian hockey probables, undergoing pre-Olympic training in the United States, would test their progress by playing a two-game series against the hosts. The games at Moorpark College will also signal the conclusion of the three-week USA-based training camp for the Indians. The 26 probables are getting physical as well as psychological training in the Athletes' Performance Centre in Tempe. The trainees are training alongside top US sports stars including tennis pro Meghann Shaughnessy, American football players and ace baseball player Mark Garciaparra. Although the US did not qualify for the Olympics, India can hope to benefit from these matches by putting into play all the expertise they have gained from professional training. The two game series marks the first meeting between the two teams since the 1996 Olympic Games when India earned a 4-0 win over the USA in Atlanta. India's roster for the games is likely to include Dhanraj Pillay and Baljit Singh Dhillon besides several regular members of the side. (PTI)
