Hyderabad:
Sohail Abbas's hat trick, powered the Hyderabad Sultans to a 5-2 victory over the Bangalore Hi Fliers in a tier 1 Premier Hockey League match on Wednesday. The drag flick specialist converted three penalty corners in a row to give his team a 3-0 lead within the first seven minutes of the match. For the Hyderabad team, this was the perfect answer to Len Aiyappa's hat trick for Bangalore, which came in the last match between the two teams just three days ago. Jolted by Sohail's hat trick, Bangalore completely lost their rhythm. Avtar Singh took full advantage of the situation, putting Hyderabad 4-0 ahead in the 22nd minute. By half time, Hyderabad was well ahead, the lead swelling to 5-0 with Samir Dad scoring off a rebound. Consolidated position The Hi-fliers however reduced the margin of defeat to 5-2 with goals from Malaysian import Kuhan Shanmuganathan and captain Len Aiyappa. But it was too little and too late. With this win, the home team not only avenged Sunday's defeat to the same team, but also further consolidated their position at the top of the points table. The Hyderabad Sultans are currently on top of the Tier I points table with 9 points. They have won 3 and lost just 1 of the four matches played so far.Topics mentioned in this article
