India took on South Korea in their last league match in the Champions Trophy. Even a loss would have been good enough for them to make it to the playoff for third place. But with Pakistan's 2-0 win over Australia, an India-Pakistan clash for third place was virtually assured, which is probably why India looked a little complacent against Korea today. Korea managed to defeat India 4-2. The Koreans still stayed in fifth place and will play Australia in the relegation match. Shin Seok-kyo and Jeon Jong-ha scored within a three-minute span to put the South Koreans two goals up by the 26th minute. Dhanraj Pillai pulled one back for India in the 40th, before Hwang Jong-hyun and Kim Kyung-seok sealed the victory for South Korea. Gaganjit Singh scored another goal for India late in the match, but it was of no significance in terms of the final result. It was India's second defeat in the tournament but they remain third in the table.Topics mentioned in this article
