New Orleans:

The second round in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans teed off on Friday morning at TPC of Louisiana.

Mark Calcavecchia started the day two strokes behind Kyle Reifers - who broke the course record on the opening day with an eight under-par 64 - but had an early tee time and drew level at eight under par with a birdie on the 13th hole.

Calcavecchia would finish his round with three birdies in a blemish-free 69, putting him in first place at 135 at the halfway stage, nine under par for the tournament.

Reifers, however, started on the back nine and began with two early bogeys on the twelfth and fifteenth.

He settled down by saving par with this putt on the 17th, birdied the fourth and eventually returned a one over par 73.

He sits in a tie with Charlie Hoffman at seven under par. Hoffman also started at the tenth and hit nice birdie putt on the 16th for the first of five birdies on the day - dropped shots at the 17th and first though, made for a 69 and a halfway total of 137.

Nick Watney also shot five birdies in his second round and managed to avoid the bogeys to leap up the leaderboard with a 67 - that put him in a tie for second place at eight under par with Lucas Glover.

Chris Riley had the shot of the day with his chip-in on the ninth hole but unfortunately he won't be playing this weekend, having missed the cut by three strokes.

Last week's winner, Boo Weekley, started on the back side and was three over at the turn. Weekley's birdie here at three was the first of three that got him down to a par round of 72. He finished six strokes over the cut line and will miss the weekend's final two rounds.
