Unfazed by a double bogey that dropped her two shots off the lead at the LPGA Corning Classic with four holes to play, South Korea's Jimin Kang shot a hole-in-one and beat the Swede and 23-year-old rookie Meena Lee by two shots. Kang, whose best previous finish was a tie for 19th at the Michelob Ultra Open four weeks ago, shot a career-low 66 to finish at 15-under 273, eclipsing her previous best 72-hole score by 11 shots. Sorenstam was a runner-up for the 39th time in her 11-year career after a final round 69. Tour superstar Annika Sorenstam battled a talented young field and a cold throughout the Corning Classic. Hee-Won Han of South Korea shot a 62 third round but could not repeat that success on Sunday. Rain-delayed round Han started well with three birdies in the first five holes but she shot three bogies in the rest of her round and ended the day at par. Karine Icher, who gained the lead after the rain-delayed second round, fell apart in the final round with three double bogeys in a six-hole span on the back nine. Jimin Kang had much better luck in her final round. She hit a 9-iron right at the pin at No. 15, and the ball bounced twice on the green and rolled into the hole. It was the fourth hole-in-one of the weekend, a tournament record. Kang was pushed all day by fellow Korean Meena Lee. Lee sank her eighth birdie of the day on 17 to go into the final hole tied with Kang for the lead. Sorenstam showed flashes of greatness despite her sickness. Her long birdie on 17 put her at three under on the day, where she would finish. The par four 18th hold proved to be too much for Lee. She chipped her third shot past the middle of the green where it slowly rolled through the fringe and into the rough. Kang took advantage and tapped in a short par putt for a round of 66 and her first LPGA victory. (AP)
