Pebble Beach, USA: Tiger Woods, appearing at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am for the first time in 10 years, will tee up with good friend Arjun Atwal on Wednesday in a tournament that features Tour professionals with Hollywood celebrities, world renowned musicians and the captains of industry.
Even as Woods is attempting to resurrect his career, Atwal is going through a rough patch having missed the cut in each of the four starts he has made this year on PGA Tour.
Woods and Atwal, who play and practice together often, came to Pebble Beach on Monday and played a practice round.
At AT&T Pebble Beach, each foursome is made up of two pros Woods will play with Atwal and two amateurs.
The two amateurs paired with Woods and Atwal are Tony Romo, a quarterback with Dallas Cowboys, and Danny Lane.
The foursome will play at Spyglass first. Also in the field is Daniel Chopra.
The USD 6.4 million event is played over three courses -- Monterrey Peninsula Shore Course, Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Pebble Beach Golf Links.
The 'cut' is made on Saturday night and the leading 60 professionals and 25 pro-am teams play at Pebble Beach on Sunday for the championship.
Atwal and Woods have been very close friends and train together at Isleworth in Florida.
So Atwal will be hoping to pick up some tips from his friend and improve his fortunes this season. Last year Atwal kept his card as he made 18 cuts in 29 starts and finished 109th on the Money list.
His only top-10 came at the HP Byron Nelson Championships, though he had three other top-20 finishes.
