Kiran claims she was a mediocre golfer, even though she won the all India ladies title in 1983. Teaching golf But for the last 16 years she's spent more time teaching rather than playing. And there have been more than enough students thanks to the golf boom in India. Beginner golfers are most keen just to get the ball air-borne. But every one knows that there's lots of theory and technique that goes into hitting the perfect shot and developing the perfect swing. Kiran studied physics and maths in college, something that comes in handy when she presents research papers to the Scientific Congress of Golf. Aiming high But six years ago she decided that she wanted to reach out to a wider audience and that is why she started a coaching website. touched a high of 43,000 hits in June 2004. Grateful beginner golfers no doubt who may not want to invest in expensive coaching books or an even more expensive coach. Kiran gets fan mail from all over the world but her main aim is to make the game more popular in India. Irrespective of whether the government is doing enough or not, Kanwar is certainly doing her bit.
