New Delhi:

Jeev Milkha Singh returned to India on Monday night after an incredible year that saw him win four titles, climb an unbelievable 339 places in the world golf rankings and win the Asian Order of Merit. But even as Jeev puts his feet up to relax at home, he has another busy year to look forward to since he is now guaranteed of a start in all four majors next year, including the Augusta Masters in April, in which no Indian has played so far. Jeev is at present Asia's top ranked player, 16th in Europe and with four international wins including the prestigious European Masters, the golfer would definitely be a worthy contender for India's Sportsman of the year in 2006. Asked about his future plans, Jeev said, "I would like to go to a good Indian restaurant and have a good Indian meal. That's what I have been really missing." The lack of Indian food quite obviously doesn't seem to have affected Jeev. In fact, it was his change in strategy and attitude that saw him jump an incredible 300 plus places this season and into the top 50 "I have been a very result oriented player and because of that I have let many tournaments slip away. But starting out in the Volvo China Open I told myself that just go out there and follow your routine course and see what happens and I did that. I won the tournament and that gave me immense amount of confidence and after that it's just been great going," said Jeev, ranked 45 in the world. If these are the results that Jeev's routine course yields, helping him break a seven-year title drought, then the world had better watch out for a time when he starts playing extraordinarily well.
