Indian golfer Rahil Gangjee had a fine start to his campaign at the Children's Hospital Classic golf tournament, carding a decent four-under 68 to lie tied 21st on Friday.
Daniel Chopra shot 70 and was lying 68th and in danger of missing the cut.
Opening on the tenth, Gangjee started with a birdie and then gave that shot away on 12th hole. A birdie on the 18th ensured that he turned in one-under. On the back nine, he was steady and sank three good birdies on first, fourth and seventh holes to finish in 68. Gangjee was five behind leader, Nicholas Thompson who fired a nine-under 63 to take the first-round lead.
Thompson grabbed a two-stroke lead over Doug Barron, Justin Bolli, Brice Garnett and Brent Delahoussave. Six others are three behind the leader after the first round at the Black Creek Mountain course.
