Ernie Els wins Dubai Desert Classic

Ernie Els fired a closing 69 as he romped to a four-shot victory in the Dubai Desert Classic on Sunday.

Ernie Els swept to the top of the Order of Merit after winning his second title in one week in the $ 1.4-million Dubai Desert Classic on Sunday. He carded a final-round 69 at the Emirates Golf Club to claim back-to-back titles for the first time since 1997. The South African's 16-under-par total of 272 gave him a four-shot victory over Ryder Cup Swede Niclas Fasth. Carl Pettersson, finished third while England's Brian Davis ranked fourth on nine under. Matt Kuchar wins Honda Classic Matt Kuchar, the former US Amateur champion, earned his first USPGA Tour title in just his 17th start at the Honda Classic in Coral Springs, Florida on Sunday. The 23-year-old shot a 6-under-par final round of 66 for a 72-hole total of 19-under 269 to claim the $630,000 prize. Joey Sindelar bogeyed the 17th hole and tied Brad Faxon for second at 17-under 271. Brett Quigley bogeyed the last two holes and tied Billy Andrade and J L Lewis at 272.
