Sebastian Vettel extended his lead at the top of the drivers championship with his first victory at his home circuit at Nurburgring.
Romain Grosjean was quick during the early stages of the race and put him under pressure before they pitted in succession. Grosjean was made to give up P2 to teammate Raikkonen at the end of the Grand Prix.
Jules Bianchi's Marussia, after an engine failure-induced fire, rolled without the driver in it across the circuit, triggering the safety car.
Pole-sitter Lewis Hamilton finished fifth while Kimi Raikkonen ended second, putting late pressure on eventual winner Sebastian Vettel.
"Yes, yes, yes!" screeched Vettel. "Woo-hooh! Thanks guys that was a tough race -- they really gave me a run for my money."
