Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium:BMW-Sauber's Nick Heidfeld set the fastest time in Saturday's last practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix.
In another session affected by rain and gusting winds on the scenic circuit, Heidfeld finished ahead of McLaren driver Heikki Kovalainen and former world champion Fernando Alonso, who topped Friday's second practice session.
Germany's Heidfeld set a time of 1 minute, 47.876 seconds at the 7.004 kilometer (4.352-mile) Spa-Francorchamps circuit, beating Kovalainen by 0.289 seconds. Alonso was 0.431 behind.
Championship leader Lewis Hamilton of McLaren took fourth place with 1:48.356, just ahead of in-form Ferrari driver Felipe Massa.
World champion Kimi Raikkonen took seventh place.
Qualifying for Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix is set for later Saturday.
