Big racers undertake easy practice
Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso were among the top drivers who took it easy in the opening practice for the Australian Grand Prix.

Giancarlo Fisichella and Fernando Alonso were among the top drivers who took it easy in the opening practice for the Australian Grand Prix on Friday. Neither Fisichella, who won two weeks ago at Malaysia, and world champion Alonso, winner of the opening race at Bahrain, completed a full lap in the morning. In the afternoon they came out and drove a minimum of laps on the Albert Park circuit to keep their cars in shape. Test driver Anthony Davidson of Honda had the top time of both sessions with a best in the afternoon of 1 minute, 26.822 seconds. Honda's Jenson Button, still seeking his first victory in Formula One after more than 100 GPs, was the top race driver in the second session with 1:27.213. Other racers He was followed by the three big names of the season - Alonso, Michael Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen. Alonso, who leads the drivers standings with 18 points, had 1:27.443, while Ferrari's Schumacher, a seven-time champion who has won in Melbourne four times, did 1:27. 658.
