Santi Cazorla and Fabianski took their team through with a goal and two saves respectively in the penalty shootout.
Championship side Wigan, who are also the holders of the FA Cup, put in a spirited performance against the top-flight EPL club to take the game till penalties.
After some nervous moments, Arsenal won the game and advanced to the final with the chance of bagging their first silverware in 9 years.
