Madrid, Spain:Mallorca defender Fernando Navarro inadvertently deflected the ball into his own net on Sunday, giving defending champion FC Barcelona a 1-0 win in the Spanish league.
Barcelona striker Javier Saviola took a shot in the 90th minute, but the ball bounced off the left post and hit Navarro before going in the net. Saviola had come on for Ludovic Giuly in the 59th.
Mallorca could have taken the lead in the 30th from the penalty spot, but Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes made the save shortly after he took down Mallorca midfielder Jonas Gutierrez in front of goal.
Sevilla fell further back in the title race, losing at Valencia 2-0.
David Villa scored both goals, first putting the hosts in the lead in the 27th and then adding the other from the penalty spot after defender Andreas Hinkel was red-carded in the 51st.
Barcelona leads the league with 59 points, followed by Sevilla with 55, Real Madrid with 54 points and Valencia with 53.
