Portsmouth overcame its poor English Premier League form to win a replayed third-round FA Cup match 2-0 at Bristol City on Tuesday.

England striker Peter Crouch scored in the 38th minute at Ashton Gate and Niko Kranjcar added a second goal with two minutes left for the defending FA Cup champion, which had only won a meaningless UEFA Cup match in its last eight games.

West Bromwich Albion won 2-0 at Peterborough in another of Tuesday's five replays, while Wolverhampton Wanderers won 2-0 at Birmingham in one of four third-round matches which had been rescheduled because of bad weather.

Swansea, Sheffield United, Millwall, Charlton and Burnley made it into the fourth round, which was scheduled for Jan. 23-25.

Portsmouth striker David Nugent had already hit a post from close range before Crouch rounded off a counterattack by shooting from Armand Traore's right cross. Crouch celebrated his 13th goal of the season but the League Championship side was unhappy that the England international had appeared to handle the ball inside his own area moments before scoring.

Kranjcar made the game safe for Pompey, which will play Swansea next after the Welsh club won 2-1 at non-league Histon in one of the matches hit by the weather 10 days ago.

West Brom was struggling at last place in the Premier League but won 2-0 at Peterborough, which was managed by Darren Ferguson _ the son of Manchester United's Alex Ferguson.

The teams drew their first match 0-0 but on-loan Arsenal striker Jay Simpson put West Brom ahead in the 18th with a 20-meter (yard) shot and defender Paul Robinson added a second goal eight minutes before halftime from a cross by Kim Do-heon.

In the other replays, defender Zak Whitbread scored with four minutes left to give Millwall a 3-2 win at Crewe, Charlton won 1-0 at Norwich, while Jay Rodriguez scored in the last minute of extra time to give Burnley a 2-1 win against visiting Queens Park Rangers.

There are three replays scheduled for Wednesday, with Chelsea at League One side Southend, Hull at Premier League rival Hull, and Leicester at Crystal Palace.

Wolves, which was vying with Birmingham for the second-tier League Championship, won 2-0 at the Blues through goals by Andy Keogh and Sam Vokes.

Greg Halford scored twice to lead Sheffield United to a 4-1 win at Leyton Orient and a meeting with Charlton, while Cheltenham and Doncaster will replay after drawing 0-0.
