Kolkata:Marking a new phase in the sports scenario of the state, Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty on Thursday announced setting up of Royal Bengal Sports Private ltd which would tie-up with a local soccer club and infuse the much-needed professional touch in its affairs.
This was after the celluloid star's foray into the Indian Cricket league through his Royal Bengal Tigers (RBT).
Announcing a tie-up between Royal Bengal Tigers and Howrah Union, a soccer club in city maidan, Mithun said RBT's football division would now be known as Royal Bengal Tiger Howrah Union.
Mithun, who was addressing reporters at a city hotel, said the idea of tie-up was for promotion of football in the state.
The RBT Sports PVT Ltd and RBT Howrah Union would work in tandem for betterment of soccer in the country, Mithun who is involved with many voluntary organisations in the city and philanthropic work asserted.
"I will personally move around the world to get footballers for the RBT Howrah Union," he said.
Speaking on the occasion ICL Chief Executive Himanshu Modi said the ICL would go ahead in spite of many hurdles like non-avaliability of ground and threats faced by players.
He, however, did not elaborate on the issue of threats, apparently made in the light of BCCI's attitude towards the cricket league.
