The result earned Arsenal a two-leg meeting with another Mexican club, America of Mexico City, which defeated Brazil's Vasco da Gama in their quarterfinal.
America lost 1-0 against Vasco da Gama on Wednesday but advanced with a 2-1 aggregate score.
"I'm happy because we came looking for a win and we got it," Yacuzzi said. "They played great, but we were smart and effective. We're a humble group but with aspirations."
Yacuzzi opened the scoring two minutes after the opening kickoff added his second on a cross from Alejandro Gomez in the 27th.
With 13 minutes remaining, he drew a foul from Hector Reynoso, enabling teammate Santiago Raymonda to secure the victory by converting the ensuing penalty.
Sergio Santa scored Chivas' only goal in the 16th minute.
The semifinals will begin November 7 at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, with the second leg a week later at Buenos Aires.
In the other semifinal, Millonarios of Colombia is waiting for the winner between River Plate and Defensor Sporting from Uruguay, who drew 2-2 on Thursday.
If River advances, they would face Arsenal in the semi-finals. Competition rules forbid teams from the same country from meeting in the finals.
