Kolkata:
Japan notched up a 4-0 win against India in the Asian zone Group C return leg match of the World Cup football qualifier at the Salt Lake Stadium. T Suzuki scored the first goal in the 45th minute, while S Ono, T Fukunish and captain T Miyamoto scored the other three goals in the 59th, 71st and 88th minute. Japan's coach Zico, largely seen as the reason behind the team's recent spate of success, believes that his team member will not let him down. "In the recent Asia Cup we played well. My boys are confident and I can assure you the spectators will not be disappointed," he said. The Indian team, on the other hand, does not seem very optimistic about the result of this match. But coach Stephen Constantine is trying to keep the morale of the team high. Kolkattans, meanwhile, have been gripped by the football fever and are eagerly awaiting the match. Japan has nine points from the three matches it has played and needs just one more win to reach the final round. But the people of Kolkata are hopeful that the Indian team will perform better on home turf.Topics mentioned in this article
