Carson, California:Exhausted after playing three games in six days, David Beckham will be rested from the Los Angeles Galaxy's Major League Soccer game against Colorado on Sunday.
Coach Frank Yallop decided to rest Beckham after evaluating the star midfielder's condition following a 3-0 loss to Chivas USA on Thursday. He's expected to play next in Wednesday's SuperLiga final against Pachuca at the Home Depot Center.
"I'd love to be on the pitch with my team this Sunday, but our training staff has advised me that it would be detrimental to not only my health for this game but for the rest of the season as well," Beckham said in a statement issued by the Galaxy. "Thanks to all the fans that have supported me these last few weeks; I look forward to making it out to Colorado for our next scheduled match there."
Beckham, who joined the Galaxy last month, played the entire 90 minutes for England in a 2-1 loss to Germany on Wednesday in a friendly at Wembley. He had only six hours to rest after making the London-to-Los Angeles flight before playing 90 minutes again on Thursday.
The Galaxy has the MLS' second-worst record at 3-5-9.
