Thibaut Courtois Pens New Five-Year Contract With Chelsea F.C.

Thibaut Courtois, the 22-year-old Belgian, managed to pip long-serving Czech international Petr Cech to become Chelsea F.C.'s first-choice goalkeeper this season.

Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has signed a new five-year contract with Chelsea, the English Premier League leaders announced. (Louis van Gaal happy to swap Welbeck for Falcao)

The 22-year-old returned to Stamford Bridge after a three-year loan at Spanish football club Atletico Madrid, reports Xinhua. (Wenger challenges Arsenal to show title credentials)

"I'm very happy with this new deal. It's really nice to have signed this new contract for five years," Courtois said. "My future was already sorted, but it's nice to know I'm going to be here for another five years and now I can just concentrate on playing games." (Liverpool can cope with hectic schedule)

He joined Chelsea from Belgian side Genk in 2011, but was immediately loaned to Atletico, where he won the Spanish league title last season and played in the Champions League final.
